This site is dedicated to the education and growth of Geocaching in the state of Massachusetts.
The W.M.G. website encourages the growth of Geocaching through public relations and word of mouth. We encourage all Geocachers to provide a safe, environmentally friendly, and family oriented experience when placing and finding Geocaches. We also hope that while you are on the trail you will report any damage done to our beautiful parks and forests to the proper authorities even if you are not a Geocacher. If you own a GPS (short for Global Positioning System), then you can join our High Tech Treasure Hunt.
What is Geocaching
Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "Geocaches" or "Caches") anywhere in the world. A typical Geocache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and "Treasure", usually toys or trinkets of little value. Today, well over 800,000 geocaches are registered on various websites devoted to the sport. Geocaches are currently placed in over 100 countries around the world and on all seven continents, including Antarctica. There are no age restrictions or special skills required to find most geocaches. For the basic membership there is no fee to pay, just sign with your new Geocacher Alias, enter in your zip code, and find your first cache!
