Welcome to the Western Mass. Geocachers website
What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "Geocaches" or "Caches") anywhere in the world.
A typical Geocache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and "Treasure", usually toys or trinkets of little value. Today, over 1,000,000 geocaches are registered on various websites devoted to the sport. Geocaches are currently placed in over 100 countries around the world and on all seven continents, including Antarctica.
There are no age restrictions or special skills required to find most geocaches. For the basic membership there is no fee to pay, just sign with your new Geocacher Alias, enter in your zip code, and find your first cache!
GroundSpeak (the company that runs Geocaching), has made a great little video about Geocaching and you can watch it below.
